Background Information

Coventry Thistle Club was formed in the early 1950's. It was a weekly social dance evening with a mixture of dancing, including old time, Modern Ballroom and Scottish Country dancing.

The name derives from the Thistle Restaurant which was in "Lockhurst lane" Coventry, where the club was held on a Tuesday night. The club has had three other venues, The Bull's Head, Binley road Coventry, the W.A.V.A Hall Baras Heath Coventry and now at our current venue "Stoke United Reform Church" Brays Lane Coventry.

The dancing is now mostly Scottish Country with the occasional couple dance thrown in for good measure.

The club now organises a number of functions in the year including dances, tea parties and a Burns Supper Dance. Full details are available on this website so please do have a browse. Also note that visitors are always welcome on a Tuesday night.
